The Veldt is the first in a smaller series of art which really showcases the elobrate mask!

The painting - This is the King of Beasts who wears a mighty mask befitting his rank. However even when the mask is removed he is still a jeweled and mighty sight! This is painted in acrylic on a 9x12" canvas.

The mask - This mask is made of organic handmade paper over a plastic core. It features a burnished gold finish on the face, and his "jewels" are mosaic glass shards under paper at the crown. Topped by a mane of naturally colored brown and black coque feathers. When hung on the bottom of the frame, instead of on the face, it gives the illusion of the lion stalking his prey through savanna grasses...

The frame - The frame features a unique pattern of carved savannah grass on a coved surface and carries the golden African hues of the mask and painting. The bead on the sight edge is gilded to reflect the magesty of the lion. The frame is constructed of Poplar hardwood in order to strike a balance between weight and strength, and it is finished in durable shellac. There are magnets mounted two locations in the frame to support the mask hooks either in front of the face or below the frame.
